OUR
MISSION

Asset 24.png

Raising Her Game works to improve diversity and representation in women's sport. We do this by offering free sessions in local primary schools and free holiday camps to young girls from underrepresented groups.

We champion accessibility, equality, community and growth. Our camps are run by diverse, fully qualified role models who are passionate about the benefits of sport.

Then, to ensure continued participation, we connect our girls with our carefully picked partner clubs who help them grow and thrive.

Our work with National Governing Bodies also ensures more accessible participation, and better connections from grassroots to elite sporting pathways.

FOUNDER'S WHY

sports, coaching, hockey, football, kids, diversity, team GB, happy, activity, healthy, young people, active

"Sport has brought me joy, growth and countless opportunities. Everyone deserves to experience the benefits sport offers, but unfortunately it isn’t accessible for, and inclusive of everyone. We need to change this.

Not many people look like me in my sport. I’m the only person of colour in my England and GB teams. I’ve never had many teammates or a role model in my sport that looks like me. I want to do my part to make sure that this isn’t the case for any girls or boys.

Raising Her Game will create spaces where girls and their families will feel welcome, comfortable, safe and inspired regardless of their race, religion or financial background. I’m determined to break barriers, provide role models and inspire a generation of diverse little girls to pursue their dreams."

OUR
ORIGINS

Raising Her Game was inspired by the US organisation Beyond Our Game, which was founded in the US in 2021 by two Division 1 student-athletes, Courtnie Williamson and Darcy Bourne. Together they had a mission to build a platform for positive change and make sport a better place for all.

After moving home to pursue her professional hockey career playing for England and GB, Darcy began working to form Raising Her Game, launching in 2024.
